A Toolkit for Parents and Caregivers

Our four page newsletter is full of advice and support for families. Articles are intentionally brief because we know that as a parent of a young child, time is at a premium. First Teacher is published 11 times a year and is also available in Spanish.

Newsletters have articles on parenting issues such as discipline, appropriate child development, health and safety, fostering self-esteem, food and nutrition, encouraging curiosity, language development, immunizations, handling anger, sleeping and feeding problems, activities for young children, getting ready for kindergarten, selecting child care and more.

First Teacher knows that you are busy and don’t always have time to read an entire parenting book. Our newsletter contains research-based information which allows you to learn or be reminded of various parenting issues. We intentionally keep articles brief and include references so you can go to the source for more detailed information. We welcome your comments and ideas. First Teacher is built on the premise that parenting is an art-form and not a science or “one size fits all.”

In some areas (Sequim, Port Angeles, Bremerton, Clallam County) the program is funded and is free of charge. We do, however, accept any donations to help support the cost of developing a database, printing and mailing First Teacher.
